On Wednesday, United Arab Emirates witnessed a thunderstorm followed by heavy rains at most parts of the nation that disrupted the flights and roads were flooded which forced to shut down the schools in the desert nation.
Dubai, the commercial capital of UAE was also affected due to the rains disrupting the normal life and the rains in Abu Dhabi has forced to halt the capital’s stock market and then it was closed for the day.
On Thursday, the schools in all the seven emirates were closed as per the sources from UAE. Most of the classes of higher educations and colleges were cancelled.
Abu Dhabi International Airport, the main base of Etihad was also closed and most of the flights were cancelled and some were delayed.
“The United Arab Emirates’ National Center for Meteorology and Seismology had warned that heavy rains were possible Wednesday. It said the unstable weather likely will continue into Thursday.”
These rains are considered as one of the rarest phenomenon in the desert regions and that too in decades.
