Anantapuram, February 14
A stiff competition is going on between Anantapuram Telugu Desam Party leaders over the MLC seat, which will fall vacant as Mettu Govinda Reddy’s tenure concluded.
While the leaders of Rayadurgam are keen on getting the post, the other leaders in the district were also raising their voice.
Chief Whip Kaluva Srinivasulu had Pula Nagaraju pushed as ZP Chairman candidate in place of Chaman. Deepak Reddy of the same constituency is trying for the MLC seat of Mettu Govinda Reddy. Gaddam Subrahmanyam, a prominent leader of Minister Paritala Sunitha group, is firm to get the seat.
The problem, which could not be solved in the district, was put before Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He will finalise the candidate after discussing with district party leaders.
Deepak Reddy is reportedly pressurizing his uncles – JC Brothers to allot MLC seat to him in case his seat was given to Kaluva Srinivasulu. Deepak Reddy said that Naidu has given assurance earlier.
Meanwhile, Mettu Govinda Reddy is requesting the party chief to retain his seat since he has been working in the constituency as per Naidu’s orders.
Along with Deepak Reddy and Mettu Govinda Reddy, several other leaders are also trying for the MLC seat. Though several leaders are supporting Gaddam Subrahmanyam for the MLC post, it is doubtful for him to get the chance.
Now all eyes are focused on Naidu as to whom he will allot the MLC seat.
