Anantapuram, February 3
The Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project has become a savior for the farmers of Anantapuram district, whose hopes have multiplied with the completion of first phase works. The Andhra Pradesh government is now focusing on completing the second phase works at the earliest.
Already Guntakal, Uravakonda, Rapuru, Penugonda constituencies are getting Krishna River water. The river water had filled many lakes and tanks in the district thus raising underground water levels.
With a view to make Anantapuram district, which always reels under drought, green with Handri Neeva project. As per the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s assurance of completing the project works as soon as possible, works of HNSS from 304th km mark to 400 km are going on at a fast pace.
Chandrababu Naidu had dedicated Gollapalli reservoir to the county in last December. He directed the officials to supply water to Cherlopalli via Marala reservoir in Puttaparthi constituency before March 31.
He is reportedly enquiring with the officials about works progress every week during review meetings. The 504-metre long underground tunnel, the internal part of the project was almost completed. Officials have prepared plans to complete another 7-km long underground tunnel at the earliest.
With the Chief Minister personally monitoring the works, MLAs and district ministers are also supervising it, thus making the works to go faster.
Farmers of Dharmavaram, Puttaparthi are content about the way works are going on.
