Amaravathi, January 7
With the deadline to complete land acquisition for capital city construction before June, Andhra Pradesh government is preparing ground to land pooling against farmers, who denied giving up their lands.
Officials have already issued notification in this regard in Nelapadu, Krishnayapalem, Ainavolu, Abbarajupalem and Borupalem villages. District Collector, revenue and CRDA officials are busy in the works.
The AP government has acquired 33,500 acres in 29 villages under land pooling. It has to get another 4,150 acres. The land acquisition process was stalled as farmers strictly opposed to give up their lands and the officials failed to compromise them.
The opposition is more in Rayapudi, Uddandrayinipalem, Lingayapalem and Mandadam villages and farmers are continuing agriculture in their lands. After waiting for about two years, the government not in a mood to delay further, has issued notification to these four villages. Objections in this regard will be accepted for 60 days.
Except from Undavalli, Penamaka, Errabalem and Bhetapudi villages, officials observed that there would be no opposition for land pooling in other villages. The officials have to acquire about 2,500 acres from these four villages.
But the villagers have resorted to Supreme Court and also National Haritha Tribunal, arguing that it is against law to usurp their lands which give three crops per annum. Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan visited the villages two times and farmers clearly stated that they will never give their lands for capital city.
