Vijayawada, January 11
For the first time after State bifurcation, a three-day air show is going to be organized at Punnami Ghat in Amaravathi, first-of-its kind by the Civil Aviation Department on the banks of river Krishna here from January 12.
Arrangements at Punnami and Bhavani bathing ghats are going on for the show. The ground was leveled by filling hundreds of lorries loads soil. Works are going on in 14 acres land from Punnami ghat to Bhavani bathing ghat.
The water in the land was removed and filled with soil at a cost of Rs 80 lakh. Municipal officials are conducting the works as per plans to complete them well before the air show.
Roads are being laid to the ghats. Arrangements are going on to take up river front works soon after the air show concludes, designs of which were already completed. China based GIIC company had prepared the designs, which include beautiful beach, greenery, food courts, gaming, open air theatre, meeting hall and others. The officials will acquire land in the nearby area.
They are trying to remove the electricity poles along the beach so that more land could be utilised for the purpose.
