Majority of people returned to their places after spending a joyful time with their relatives on Sankranti festival. As the offices will start functioning from Monday, all bus stands, railway stations were filled with passengers on Sunday.
On normal days 190 buses ply from Krishna district to Hyderabad. RTC officials said keeping in view the festival rush, another 210 special buses were put into service.
125 services rolled out from Pundit Nehru bus stand and online reservation facility was provided to 55 services. 60 bus services were arranged from other parts in the district to Hyderabad. 13 buses from Vijayawada to Chennai, five to Bengaluru and seven buses arranged to Visakhapatnam.
As per the GO, one and half rates are charged in special buses. In addition to these, more than 100 buses are running daily from Guntur, North Andhra and Godavari districts to Hyderabad.
70 special trains were running via Vijayawada railway station, of which 20 are running between Vijayawada and Hyderabad. All the trains were crammed with passengers. According to reports, on Sunday itself, over one lakh passengers travelled from Vijayawada to various destinations.
