Vijayawada, January 10
The police stations in Andhra Pradesh State are undergoing a make-over. Under the able guidance of Director-General of Police (DGP) N Sambasiva Rao, the police stations are adopting a friendlier approach to the public, as part of revolutionary concept of model policing.
Each police station was modernized with an expenditure of Rs 2.5 lakh with hi-tech facilities. The stations are looking like star hotels with a spacious reception counter and seating arrangements for at least 10 people.
Special staff has been appointed to help elderly and illiterates who visit police stations. The police staff are very politely welcoming the petitioners and listening to their problems with patience.
The public are very happy with the friendly and model policing and praising the DGP for the innovation. They observed if the same concept is followed in all police stations in the State then the public would no more fear the police.
