The Andhra Pradesh government is making arrangements to celebrate Sankranti festival with novel programmes.

The picturesque Konaseema area, resembling Kerala with its long beaches, attracts all. Hence the government has decided to develop the area as a major tourist attraction combining tradition, culture, recipies, religious places, rivers, waterfalls, palm trees and so on.


Three tourist festivals will be organised in January, February and March months. On the occasion of Sankranti festival, festivities will be organized at NTR beach in Kakinada from January 12 to 15. A plan of action was prepared interlinking Kakinada beach, Koranga Abhayaranyam and Hope Island. Various programmes would be organized to woo tourists. The government has allotted Rs 2.5 crore for this.

Marking Maha Sivaratri, Konaseema celebrations would be held from February 23 to 26. While Manyam Jatara would be conducted from March 26 to 28, on Ugadi festival.

Aiming to attract tourists more, the government is getting ready to conduct these festivities on a grand scale.
