Anantapuram, December 28
Following signals about changing Anantapuram Zilla Parishath chairman from Telugu Desam chief himself, cold war started between party leaders and ZP chairman Chaman Saab, with each vying to get the hot seat. Chaman’s tenure will conclude in another 10 days. Even though it was evident that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will decide the candidate for ZP chairman post, the leaders are undaunted in making their own efforts.
It is known that the Party Chief Whip, Kalva Srinivasulu, is putting all his efforts to get the post to Gummaghatta Nagaraju. Minister Paritala Sunitha is reportedly maintaining distance from this war.
Hence Chaman is left alone in his fight to retain the post. He reportedly met National president of BC Welfare Association R Krishnaiah and requested him to extend his post.
It was rumoured that Chaman and Pula Nagaraju bore the total expenditure of TDP ZPTC candidates during the elections. It should be pointed out here that TDP won majority ZP seats in the district. following party high command orders, it was decided the duo will share the ZP chairman post for two and half years each.
It was reported that Minister Paritala Sunitha’s son Paritala Sriram persuaded CM Chandrababu Naidu’s son Lokesh to give the chairman post to Chaman.
Meanwhile, advocate Gangadhar is demanding that the post be given to persons from Valmiki community following the party high command’s promise. He warned of launching agitations if their demand is not fulfilled.
On the other hand, minorities rushed to the podium at TDP coordination committee meeting and demanded that Chaman should continue in the post. But several MLAs, MLCs and other people’s representatives are reportedly opposing Chaman.
