The AP government is taking measures to help kidney victims across the State. Following Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s orders, the administration announced of setting up dialysis centres in Prakasam and Srikakulam districts.
It should be noted that highest number of kidney deaths took place in Prakasam district. Official statistics say that as many as 423 people died due to kidney disease in the district within two years.
The number of kidney victims due to fluoride content in the drinking water is increasing in several areas in the district. Patients have to go Ongole, Nellore, Guntur and other cities for dialysis. Those cannot afford to go to these places have lost their lives.
In this situation, the government is taking measures to correct the situation prior to YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s Kanigiri tour on January 20 to condole kidney patients.
Dialysis centres were set up in Markapuram, Kandukuru and Kanigiri in Prakasam district and Palasa and Sompet in Srikakulam districts.
The government is also mulling to provide better medical aid and to solve drinking water problem in these areas, giving respite to victims of fluoride and kidney disease.
