Ongole, February 7
MLA Damacharla Janardhan requested ZP Chairman Edara Haribabu to allot 1.60 acres land of Zilla Parishad to construct Telugu Desam Party office in Ongole. He even suggested to the ZP Chairman to take a resolution in this regard during the ZP general body meeting on February 10.
ZP elections brought on the bickering between Haribabu and Janardhan that has continued in ongole since. It is said that Janardhan was the mastermind behind Haribabu’s expulsion from the party during the ZP election scuffle. It was alleged that Janardhan is preventing Haribabu’s efforts to rejoin the party.
Haribabu completed two and half years in service. Even though there is four years deadline to move ‘no confidence’ motion, the MLA reportedly tried to oust Haribabu from his position by moving no confidence motion within two and half years.
The MLA pressurized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and also Satish Chandra of CM peshi. He even tried to bring out a special GO on no confidence motion.
According to sources, the MLA had discussions about dethroning the ZP chairman from his post at any cost, during the party’s internal meetings.
It seems that the MLA is closing all doors for the ZP chairman’s re-entry into the party. The ZP chairman has to take measures for allotting land as per the MLA’s request. A resolution in this regard has to be taken in the meeting scheduled on February 10. The ZP chairman has to convince all including Opposition parties.
Almost all political groups are opposing allotment of ZP land for party purposes, instead of government and public use. Specially employees are lashing out at the move.
Meanwhile ZP chairman Haribabu has been repeatedly assuring that he will protect the ZP properties and members and staff have confidence on him. In this situation, Haribabu will never agree to give the land, which the MLA knows very well.
MLA Janardhan’s master plan is that if the ZP chairman agrees to give the land for party office, then he will get all the credit. The ZP chairman in turn has to face opposition from members, staff and opposition leaders.
If the chairman negates the request, then he would be blamed as working against the ruling party. Haribabu could be blamed for this by taking the issue to the notice of party chief Naidu and could create hurdles for Haribabu in coming back to the party.
What is Haribabu’s plan of action could only be known on February 10. It should be noted here that a group of ruling party said that a few people have planned to take the ZP land on the pretext of party office and then usurp the land under 99 years lease.
Land in Ooracheruvu was selected for the party office when Karanam Balram was the MP. The proposal took backseat after Congress came to power. There is still government land in that area and party office could be constructed there. But MLA Janardhan sidelined the proposal fearing that the credit goes to Karanam Balram.
