The Coasta area is shivering with extreme cold conditions. Lowest temperatures were recorded in Vizag agency areas Lambasingi, Chintapalli, Paderu, Modakondamma Padalu areas in the last two days.
The temperature fell to between 3 to 4 degree C in Lambasingi on Tuesday and Wednesday in Vizag agency areas.
The cold wave is keeping people indoors after sunset. The normal temperatures in Vizag city have dipped by two degrees C since the past four days. Met department said 17 degree C temperature in the city was recorded on December 17 while it fell to 16 degree C from December 18 to 20.
The same conditions are continuing in Telangana State also. The Met officials said the atmospheric changes are causing the extreme cold condition.
Retired meteorologist Rallapalli Murali Krishna said the western disturbances from northern region are increasing the cold in Telangana and north costa area. The cold waves will intensify when the cold wind from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh blow towards South. The same cold condition will continue till Sankranti festival, he said.
