Visakhapatnam, January 25

The RK Beach in Visakhapatnam is going to be the stage for the protest by the youth demanding special status category (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh State on January 26, on the lines of Jallikattu movement at Marina Beach in Chennai.

A group of netizens, who decided to take a leaf out of the book of pro-Jallikattu protesters on the Marina beach have taken to the social media platforms, proposing to stage a massive demonstration on the RK beach on January 26, coinciding with the Republic Day.

The post on the social media requested all to take part in the protest at 9 am on the day. It has further requested the participants not to carry flags representing any political party; can hold banners, placards with slogans on SCS; should not damage government property; and should maintain peace.

But, the police said no one officially claimed of leading the protest till now. Meanwhile, arrangements are going on to organize a candle light rally on January 26.

Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, Tollywood actors Sandeep Kishan, Sai Dharam Tej, Varun Tej and Sampoornesh Babu extending their support for rally to the protest seeking SCS and promising to take part in it is creating interest.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh DGP N Sambasiva Rao requested not to believe the messages on social media. There is no permission for the peace rally at RK Beach and there is no clarity as who is organizing the rally, he added.

Reacting to the DGP’s denial of permission, Pawan Kalyan said it is a citizen’s right to protest in democracy to show their discontent. He further alleged that without giving permission, the police are creating unrest among the youth.
