Are terrorists going to target Vizag – the fast developing smart city? The Intelligence Bureau (IB) reportedly has warned of possible terrorists attack several times earlier.
There are chances for extremist elements to enter the city through the sea route. But in spite of all the warnings there was a security lapse which was evident by the recent incident where two strangers entered the naval dock yard unnoticed.
Vizag city is developing as an international one with the establishment of Vizag port trust steel plant, HPCL, NTPC, Hindustan, naval dock yard, Gangavaram port, Coramandal, Zinc and other private companies. The city’s population has crossed 20 lakh with several companies offering jobs.
Post State bifurcation, the city became the centre for several international events like international fleet review, CII, Bricks seminar apart from IT, tourism, pharma and cine industries flourishing.
