Visakhapatnam, December 30
Vizag Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have created record in nabbing corrupt officers this year. ACB officials targeted low range corrupt officers last year but this year they focused on high range corrupt ones.
In 2015, total 36 cases including 25 traps and four cases of disproportionate assets were registered. This year ACB filed cases on eight persons who have amassed assets more than their income. A total of 28 cases, including 12 traps and eight disproportionate cases were registered this year.
ACB officials concentrated more on police and registration departments where corruption is reportedy more. The officials brought the illegal activities of three Circle Inspectors and caught the sub-registrars of Akkayapalem and Madhurawada red-handed.
Three district-level corrupt officials were caught in December and more than Rs 50 crore worth property was seized from each of them.
ACB officials recovering illegal properties of Excise Additional Commissioner K L Bhaskar and R & B Deputy Executive Engineer Subash Patro during raids on their houses indicates that corrupt officials have changed their mode of saving corrupt income after demonetisation. Earlier they used to keep property documents, cash, gold and other valuables in bank lockers but shifted them to houses.
