Chennai, January 4
Amid growing chorus within the party urging her to become Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam AIADMK chief Sasikala Natarajan is going to meet party MLAs and MPs from January 4 to 9 in Chennai.
This development indicates that AIADMK chief Chinnamma alias Sasikala’s entry into Secretariat as the political heir of later Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is just formality now.
Tamil Nadu State politics are changing on a fast pace. Sasikala, who recently took the party reins as general secretary, is going to lead the government also.
The exercise assumes significance in view of growing chorus urging her to become the Chief Minister immediately. In this backdrop, she decided to hold a series of meetings with party leaders, constituency wise general council members, district office-bearers, MPs, MLAs, and functionaries at the levels of town, town panchayat and panchayat union.
Sasikala never intervened in party affairs earlier even though she was very close to Jayalalithaa. Also she never spoke with party MLAs and MPs personally. Hence, she decided to hold the meetings on a face-to-face basis.
Though it was said that the meetings are meant to discuss party affairs, the talk was that the main agenda of the meetings is to make Chinnamma as the CM.
