Chennai, January 9
Tamil Nadu late Chief Minister and AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa Jayakumar is creating political ripples by her statements as ‘she is the real political heir to Jayalalithaa’. She is giving sleepless nights to AIADMK leaders.
Deepa is the daughter of Jayalalithaa’s brother Jayakumar. She was depressed when she was refused entry into Apollo hospital to see her ailing aunt. Since the beginning of Jaya’s ill health, she has doubted the treatment given to ‘Amma’.
A few party activists are supporting Deepa Jayakumar, who demanded legal enquiry into the treatment provided to Jaya under the close monitoring of Sasikala Natarajan. They sought Deepa entry into politics to fulfill Jaya’s aims.
Jayalalithaa’s close aide Sasikala is busy in meeting with party MLAs, leaders and others after taking up party reins as general secretary.
At the same time, party activists and leaders coming from various parts in the State to Chennai are queuing up to meet Deepa to assure their support if she comes into active politics. She has also told them she would be announcing her decision soon.
Deepa is attracting party cadre, imitating her aunt in many ways.
Sasikala is likely to contest from RK Nagar assembly constituency, represented by Jayalalithaa. Some surveys are reported to have stated that the voters are strongly opposing to vote for Sasikala, which created quite a stir among AIADMA camp.
Based on this survey, a few AIADMK leaders are reportedly trying to bring Deepa into politics. Deepa also seemed to be waiting for the right time to announce her entry and is closely monitoring the politcail situation.
