The political jallikattu in Tamil Nadu is at its peak stage as warring AIADMK factions led by caretaker Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and E Palaniswamy awaited Governor Vidyasagar Rao’s decision.
Panneerselvam, along with the ministers and MLAs supporting him, met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and requested to allow him to form the government.
Earlier AIADMK legislature party leader Palaniswamy also met the Governor, along with his supporters. He claimed the support of 124 MLAs and submitted a report with their signatures.
118 MLAs’ support is needed to form the government.
Political analysts observed that the as per rules, Governor decision may invite Palaniswami to form the government. The later had earlier submitted the list of MLAs along with their signatures of support. Further delay is not advisable after Supreme Court verdict on disproportionate assets case of Sasikala.
