For the first time the governments yielded to the public demand for an issue involving sport. The central government gave its nod to Jallikattu after a massive five-day agitation by Tamil people at Marina Beach in Chennai. Now Jallikattu Supporters Demand Permanent Solution.
The agitation started by 50 people attracted lakhs of Tamilians demanding to hold the sport. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneer Selvam requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to issue ordinance on the sport, which resulted in getting a green signal on Saturday.
But Jallikattu supporters continued their protest at Marina Beach in spite of getting the go ahead. They said the ordinance will be in implementation for a few months only and demanded a permanent solution to the problem. The Chief Minister assured to make a permanent act in the Assembly on Jallikattu.
Meanwhile, two persons died and 57 others were injured in Jallikattu sport at Pudukottai. The sport was organized in Rapusal village amidst tight police security. Raju (30) and Mohan (30) were severely injured and they died while undergoing treatment in Pudukottai and Ilupur hospitals.
