Chennai, February 13
Caretaker chief minister O Panneerselvam’s camp has been slowly gaining strength as members of the VK Sasikala camp continued to jump ship. Two more AIADMK’s MPs Senguttuvan and Jaisingh met Panneerselvam at his residence and extended support to him. With this, Panneerselvam has six MPs on his side. A few more supporters also extended their support to Panneerselvam at his residence.
Almost all leaders, who supported the CM, lambasted Sasikala and felt that only Panneer could do justice to both party and people. The CM promised to revive the party as per the ideals of Amma (Jayalalithaa).
On the other hand, police received complaints of missing MLAs. The people of several constituencies filed complaints with police that two former ministers and eight MLAs are missing.
Leaders of various areas in Tamil Nadu have already joined Panneerselvam camp. Sasikala was informed that a few MLAs in the camp resort started revolting the day after her personal discussions with them.
Meanwhile, the niece of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Deepa group also joined Panneerselvam, thus further increasing his strength.
Sasikala is worried that the MLAs in her camp may come under pressure with missing MLAs complaints. She is also angry as the Governor did not allow her to form the government even after parading the MLAs who are supporting her.
It was known that Sasikala has decided to launch agitations across the State against Panneerselvam. Meanwhile, people, especially youth are holding rallies supporting the caretaker CM.
The police personnel are on high alert to maintain law and order situation in the State. The security at AIADMK party office and at Panneerselvam’s residence was doubled.
