Chennai, February 17
Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao had asked the newly sworn-in Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to prove majority on the floor of the Assembly within 15 days, but the government decided to take the floor test on Saturday (February 18), fearing ‘horse-trading’.
A special session of the state Assembly is likely to be called on February 18 to allow Palaniswami to prove his support in the Assembly.
Governor invited Palaniswami to form the government after accepting his letter confirming the support of 124 MLAs. Palaniswamy cabinet has 31 ministers including himself.
Except 10 MLAs, none came to support Panneerselvam. Now since the government was formed, Palaniswami will get majority votes. With Panneerselvam taking an oath at Amma’s grave to bring down the TN government, the majority proving floor test has turned interesting.
Meanwhile, all the AIADMK MLAs, who took part in Palaniswami’s swearing-in ceremony, returned to Golden Bay Resort in Kuvattur and are likely to stay there till the CM proves his majority.
