Chennai, February 10
Will it be a President’s Rule in Tamil Nadu or a government formed by either O Paneerselvam or Sasikala? These are the questions in everybody’s mind as crisis in AIADMK deepened further with both Paneerselvam and Sasikala holding separate meetings with Governor Vidyasagar Rao on Thursday amid political uncertainty.
The Governor landed in Chennai at around 3.30 pm in Chennai and met Panneerselvam at 5 pm, who came out with a broad smile on his face.
Later speaking with the media at his residence, Panneerselvam said “I told him (Governor) that I resigned owing to pressure by Sasikala and will withdraw my resignation. I requested him to give a chance to prove my strength in the floor of the House.”
He quoted a popular verse that “dharma will triumph ultimately”.
Sasikala on the other hand went to the governor after paying homage to Jayalalithaa at Marina beach. She was accompanied by her supporters. She shed tears at the memorial.
It was known that Sasikala will be asked to wait till Supreme Court’s verdict in next week regarding her corruption case. But she claimed MLAs support.
Now the ball is in Governor’s court. He may ask Sasikala to form government and will continue Panneerselvam as the CM till then. Or the Governor may give a chance to Panneerselvam to show his strength. Or he may recommend President’s rule for some time.
