New Delhi, January 10
BHIM App (Bharat Interface for Money) has been downloaded over 10 million times within a span of 10 days. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this app on December 30, which is a platform enabling quick payments using Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD).
Prime Minister was delighted at the overwhelming response to the BHIM app within a short span of 10 days. He called the app a “fine example of Make in India and how technology is being effectively used to end the menace of corruption and black money”, he said that it has made transactions “faster and easier”.
The app allows people to send and receive money through their normal feature phone also without internet facility. Anyone who operates a bank account and has a valid Aadhaar ID can use the app. The users are allowed to check their balance anytime and are not charged for making transactions.
This app will function in smart phones also with the help of upgraded unstructured supplementary service data (USSD), which enables the customers to check their account balance. People can transfer amounts to accounts without Unified Payment Interface through IFSC and MMID codes. Payments can be done with QR codes.
