New Delhi, January 25
Suspecting terrorist threat, especially by Indian Mujahideen and SIMI, on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations on January 26, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) warned all states of the impending danger. IB officials found out that weapons and bombs have already reached Haryana, Ghaziabad and Kerala.
IB officials warned Centre and all state governments to be cautious till January 27.
Maharashtra anti-terrorist group got information that the terrorists, who have been suffering with demonetization, may change their modus operandi and strap bombs on pet animals and blast them. This was revealed by a terrorist during interrogation.
Hence the IB officials warned security officials to be alert towards pet animals at public places and also in key areas. Especially, a special vigil should be kept on pet animals with special attires and with unnatural movements and also on their owners.
The intelligence wings got reliable information that terrorists would resort to solo attacks also. Earlier, terrorists used to attack in groups. But they are facing funds crunch after note ban.
It is common to issue terrorist threat warnings before Republic Day every year. But with authentic information this time, several states along with Delhi were on high alert.
Earlier terrorists groups used to create destruction separately. But this time due to the special situation prevailing in our country, intelligence officials are suspecting combined attacks by terrorists this time.
In the wake of punishment to Indian Mujahideen terrorist, accused in Dilsukhnagar blast case, five terrorist groups have planned for retaliation, IB sources said. They are suspecting that ISIS, Al-Qaida, Hizbul Mujahideen, Indian Mujahideen and Lashkar-E-Taiba are planning to choose one area each and to attack at the same time in different locations.
