The government is gearing up to facilitate Aadhar number-enabled financial transactions through mobile phones as part of its drive to convert the country into a cashless economy.
All those with a smartphone has to show finger print after linked with Aadhar card for cashless transactions like bill payments, money transfers and others.
The government is working on developing a common mobile phone app that can be used with entering the Aadhar card number and finger print, bypassing credit and debit cards, PIN.
NITI Aa yog CEO Amitabh Kant, also member of digital study committee, said already the Aadhar number was linked with bank account. The committee will study the cashless transactions going on the world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through his Mann Ki Baat, requested the public to go for digital transactions since fake currency and black money are marring the country’s financial system.
The Centre formed a committee with the Chief Ministers of five states with AP CM Chandrababu Naidu heading the committee to transform the country as the best cashless society in the world.
