Shimla, January 17

Shimla and Manali wrapped in white blankets of snow are a treat for tourists in Himachal Pradesh. Both tourist spots received some more snowfall since Sunday.

Manali, Kufri, Narkanda and Masoba areas turned white with heaps of snow. All roads are covered with heavy snow.

Vehicular traffic was interrupted due to heavy snowfall. Vehicles got stranded on NH 5 as the road was covered with snow. Power supply to several houses was disconnected as snow covered several electricity wires.


Snowfall for the past one week has covered roads and houses with thick snow. While the denizens are shivering with cold, tourists are enjoying the beautiful scenery and snowfall.

The temperatures in Shimla fell to minimum since two days. A low of minus 0.3 degree Celsius was recorded in Shimla. Met officials said heavy snowfall may occur in next two days.

Jammu and Kashmir is also witnessing heavy snowfall. The 300-km long national highway in J&K was closed as snow got piled up to two feet height at Jawahar Tunnel.

Two feet snow piled up at the Ski resort in Gulmarg too while 7.4 cm snowfall was recorded in Srinagar on Monday.
