Adilabad, January 16
With only 10 days left for the famous Nagoba Jatara of Mesaram clan of Gonds in Adilabad, the arrangements are going on at snail’s pace.
The Jatara will commence from the midnight of January 27 amidst Gonds culture and traditions. The works related to the programme, like white wash to the temple, removing weeds in the ground have not even been taken up till date.
Except Darbar ground, the Jatara ground, bus parking area and other parking places are not cleaned. Taps are being arranged for drinking water purpose at a few places.
The government had released Rs 40 lakh to organize the Jatara and directed the officials to take up the development works on a fast pace. But the works are going on lazily due to the officials’ apathy and lack of supervision.
The barricades are yet to be set up. Without officials’ supervision, the construction of toilets is going on with low quality material.
Not even 40 per cent construction works of temple tank are completed. Govada premises are filled with debris and weeds. Officials are fixing new water taps and neglecting the repair of the old ones.
The girijans are dissatisfied with the way works are going on and the quality of the works. They requested the government and officials to speed up the works and to complete them on time, as thousands of girijans from other states also visit the popular Nagoba Jatara.
