Hyderabad, January 23
The government is keen to supply uninterrupted power supply for summer crops. Following Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao’s orders that not even one single acre should go dry in summer, Telangana Power Distribution Corporation is gearing up to supply power to agriculture.
Discoms issued notifications for short term power purchases for 75 days, starting from February 16 to April 30. But this power supply will be provided during day time only. Discom suggested that only those who can supply at least 10 megawatts power should tender bids. The tender process will conclude on January 24.
Farmers are gearing up for summer crops due a good rainfall and raise in underground water levels with Mission Kakatiya project. In this context the government decided to supply nine-hour power in day time. Arrangements were already completed for supply of 9,500 megawatts.
