The magnum Opus, ‘Bahubali 2: The Conclusion’ has raked in Rs 1000 crore in box office collections within 10 days of its release. SS Rajamouli’s film, which has emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film worldwide, is expected to touch Rs 1,500-crore mark.
The collections crossed the Rs 800-crore mark on Thursday beating Aamir Khan’s PK at at Rs 743 crore. The film, which stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti, Ramya Krishna, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah in lead roles, grossed Rs 245 crore in just seven days at the box office.
Prabhas is relatively unknown to Hindi audiences while Rana Daggubati starred in ‘Dum Maro Dum’, ‘Department’, ‘Baby’ and The Ghazi Attack’. Bahubali 2: The Conclusion was shot in Telugu and dubbed into Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi.
The film has become the 16th Indian movie to surpass the $10-million mark in box office collections in the international market. The film has also beaten the lifetime record of Salman Khan’s ‘Kick.’
In the first week, the box office collection was Rs 695 crore. After tax deductions and other expenses, the producers and distributers got Rs. 545 crore. Overseas box office collections stood at Rs165 crore. On the whole, the first gross collection was Rs 860 crore, said trade analyst Ramesh Bala.
The producers of ‘Bahubali 2: The Conclusion’ have spent Rs 250 crore and rakes in Rs 1000 crore collections. This movie, which has emerged among the top movies in the United Kingdom, is likely to break more records in the coming days.
