Hyderabad, January 18
Chief Secretary S P Singh, accompanied by senior officials, took up a detailed inspection of the ongoing works of 16 km stretch from Nagole to Begumpet. The officials are considering to construct service roads to metro stations and to introduce Metro feeder bus services and electric vehicles to transport passengers from nearby colonies and government offices to the station.
Works of 20 km stretch metro rail and other facilities in two corridors have speeded up.
As part of this, the CS congratulated metro rail officials for developing footpath at Secunderabad parade grounds and greenery. He directed the officials concerned to complete the works from Miyapur to Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar in corridor one and from Nagole to Mettuguda in corridor 3 at the earliest.
A special official team was constituted to inspect the metro feeder works at grassroot level. The officials are trying to provide all facilities to metro rail passengers in these two corridors.
Steps were being taken to make cycles available at all stations of metro rail services to reduce pollution and traffic congestions.
Municipal Minister K T Rama Rao already directed the officials to construct skyways at metro stations for the benefit of footwalkers.
The City Police Commissioner would take L&T engineers’ advice to interlink Operation Control Centre at Banjara Hills with metro operation control centre. Metro rail, police and L&T wings are also discussing the security measures to be taken for metro rail passengers.
