Expensive cost on the rush, Telangana State RTC has burdened the passengers with double prices in the name of special buses. Passengers going to Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and other cities from Hyderabad have to pay 30 to 50 per cent more than the normal ticket fare.
Already private bus operators have increased the fares abnormally. People turn to RTC buses comparing the ticket fare but they were shocked to see the TSRTC bus fares also increased on par with private buses.
Lakhs of people living in Hyderabad go to their native places for the major festival. Of these, 40 to 60 per cent people opt for bus journey. Taking advantage of the rush, TSRTC arranged special buses but with high fares.
The ticket rates of super luxury, Indra, Garuda, Volvo buses were already expensive and now the fares of other buses also would be raised.
As many as 600 buses including express, deluxe, super luxury, Garuda, Volvo buses ply daily from Krishna district to Hyderabad. An additional 80 buses were added to the existing 200 buses from Vijayawada. Normally 43 bus services run between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam daily. Now additionally 10 buses were arranged. There are 38 buses to Tirupati daily.
The government ran 1000 special buses last year during festival season. Expecting low passenger rush due to demonetization, this year the officials are running only 600 buses. The officials are expecting revenue of Rs 1.5 crore against the last year’s revenue of Rs 2.5 crore.
About 50,000 people travel to Vizag from Hyderabad for a three-day stay in their native place. Officials said daily 115 buses will ply from Vizag to Hyderabad, Tirupati and Vijayawada. They said the fare will be increased by 50 per cent for the special buses also.
