The Cyberabad Police cracked the case of dacoity, which took place at Muthoot Finance at Patancheru branch on December 28, by arresting five dacoits of the inter-state gang.
Police produced the five before the media. They said nine members participated in the theft, including those who even had conducted recces twice earlier. Cops said that they will nab the remaining four thieves who were absconding.
Cyberabad CP Sandeep Sandilya said they have identified the thieves based on the footage of 35 CCTVs. The dacoits belong to Karnataka and Maharashtra and the entire planning of the robbery was hatched in Mumbai.
The gang, posing as CBI officials, entered into the Muthoot branch in Ramachandrapuram and robbed gold jewellery weighing 41.8 kgs and Rs 91,000 cash.
The dacoits escaped with the loot in black scorpio (MH 06 AN 1174). Two members of the gang went as pilot two km ahead of the scorpio and changed routes whenever they became suspicious.
The accused changed their clothes at Novapan junction and changed the vehicle number with AP 28N 3107 and went to one Vijay Kumar’s house in Halakatta village via Sankarpalli, Vikarabad, Parigi, Kodangal, Ribbanapalli tollgate, Sedam Mulkand and Chittapur.
There they dispersed after sharing the loot. The officials found out the bike number which served as a pilot and reached Vijay Kumar’s house and took him into custody. They recovered the scorpio vehicle apart from another car and bike.
With the help of Maharashtra police and Vijay Kumar, police took Lakshman, Patil and Subash into custody. They also arrested Shah, who purchased part of the booty from them and recovered 3.5 kg of gold from him.
The remaining culprits Sundar, Khala, Tukaram and Twinkle Khanna of Uttar Pradesh, who supplied weapons for the gang, are on the run. The CP Sandeep Sandilya said they can recover the remaining gold also once these thieves are also caught.
