Hyderabad, January 3

Aiming towards a clean and beautiful city, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took up removing flexis, banners, wall posters, stickers at public places in earnest.

Three levels of enforcement teams were constituted for the purpose and a fine of Rs 1000 is to be be imposed on writings, Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000 would be charged for wall posters and banners or cutouts respectively.


Following High Court orders for strict implementation of defacement in public places, the Telangana government started its clean and green drive from January 1. The government decided to implement the rule in all municipalities and corporations strictly and released a GO on Monday.

It endorsed special suspension powers to several officials and allotted responsibilities to the staff from GHMC to town panchayats.

The GHMC took the lead. It already announced strict implementation of ban on posters, banners and flexis from January 1 and started measures. The officials have removed posters and cut outs at several places on Sunday and Monday and collected a fine of about Rs 18,300 from the violators.
