Hyderabad, February 6
With a staggering 2,400 cancer cases annually, Hyderabad city is in third place in the country. Most of these are breast cancer cases and the remaining are tongue, mouth and throat cases.
Haryana and Delhi are in the first position regarding cancer cases followed by Uttar Pradesh in the second place.
Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru are in the top places respectively for cancer victims, according to Fortis Memorial Research Institutue (FMRI).
More number of women are suffering with breast cancer while men are suffering with lung cancer and more children are affected with tongue and throat cancers.
Mostly men and women between the age group of 50 to 55 years are becoming cancer victims. But in Hyderabad children below 15 years age are also getting cancer.
FMRI in a statement said that 17.3 lakh persons will get cancer disease by 2020.
Breast cancer among women is increasing with each day. Children below 15 years age are getting habituated to tobacco chewing, resulting in throat and mouth cancers.
On an average daily 10 new cancer cases are registering in various cancer hospitals in the city.
