Niloufer Hospital is in the spotlight again. This time for five maternal deaths, in a span of one month.
Most of the pregnant women who visit the hospital, suffer with blood pressure, anemia, diabetes and other health problems. They should be treated with special attention.
It was identified that the five pregnant women died due to excess bleeding.
Niloufer Superintendent Suresh Kumar said they stopped doing operations since three days. He said that they are using quality medicines only.
The relatives of the deceased staged a dharna at the hospital alleging that PG students are performing the operations.
A three-member committee was set up to probe into the matter and will submit its report to the government in two days.
The hospital authorities said that a committee with medical experts was constituted to find out the reasons for the maternal deaths. The committee will submit its reports in one week.
Hospital superintendent Suresh Kumar said that they will not conduct any operation till the report comes.
He held a review meeting over the cesarean operations and deaths in the hospital since one month. He discussed the reasons for death of Raina, Busra Begum, Fara Fatima, Nastrath Begum and Anusha and the measures to be taken to prevent such maternal deaths.
