Hyderabad, February 6
The Telangana government is gearing up to conduct Osmania University Satabdhi celebrations, reflecting Telangana history, culture and traditions, in April. The vice-chancellors of all universities, old students and others would attend the three-day programme in large numbers.
State Cultural department will present various programmes on Telangana history, culture and traditions during the three-day programme, scheduled to take place on April 26, 27 and 28.
The Telangana struggle for separate State was started from Osmania University. Students, lecturers, former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, several others who raised voice against Nizam rule took their first firm step in this university. No one will ever forget the role played the university students in Telangana struggle.
Besides being the centre for many agitations and protests, the Osmania University has also achieved many accolades in studies. Many intellectuals, literary persons, maoist leaders and parliamentarians have studied in the university. Many of the students who pursued education here have settled in high position both here and abroad.
Osmania University has bagged a special place in world education society.
A book on Osmania University students, who became famous in various fields, is also being published on the occasion. Varsity officials said that they are preparing a video about the University history for the benefit of future generations.
