Telangana government’s first Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma is going to retire on Wednesday, after two extensions of three months each. Katti Pradeep Chandra is going to take up responsibility as the new CS on December 1.
A round of big applause was given to Sharma at the cabinet meeting on Monday. It was planned as a farewell to him on the day.
Rajiv Sharma of 1982 batch worked most of his career in central services and was NMCG managing director. He played a key role in Telangana Bill formation when he was central home ministry additional secretary during which time he was closely associated with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
KCR is going to appoint Sharma as the Chief Advisor for the CM. A special chamber at 6th floor in Samatha block and also a Scoda car are allotted to him.
Coming to Pradeep Chandra, he studied mechanical engineering, MBA and Ph.D in public administration in California. He worked as district collector of several districts in united Andhra Pradesh and also as technical education director, ED of industrial development corporation, MD of SC cooperative finance corporation. He also had experience of working as special chief secretary of revenue department.
Pradeep Chandra’s service, which will conclude on December this year, may be extended for another six months as per central service rules. Otherwise he can continue at least three months as CS.
