Warangal, December 5
Tension mounted up in agency areas with police intensifying anti-Naxalite operations in these areas, keeping in mind the martyrs’ week by Maoists, observed from December 2 to 9. During the week, Maoists usually pay homage to their dead companions by erecting temporary martyr pillars.
According to sources, Maoists reportedly lost their hold in North Telangana and are now striving to regain their position. The police are keeping an eye on Maoists’ movements and beefed up security at police stations. They warned the peoples’ representatives and leaders to be cautious and to leave for cities as a precautionary measure.
The police have intensified combing the agency areas in Eturunagaram forests in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
On the other hand, it is reported that Maoists have reached the Eturunagaram forest area to take part in martyrs’ week. The police are searching house to house in villages round the clock.
