Adilabad, February 4
Beneficiaries of Abhaya Hastham pension and insurance scheme are eagerly waiting for their pension.
The then Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhara Reddy had introduced the scheme in 2008 to provide financial help to elderly women.
As per the scheme, the SHG women paid Rs 365 per annum @ one rupee per day, towards their pension amount. The interest that earned from corpus generated for each member till the completion of 60 years of her age is used for giving monthly pension of Rs 500.
The beneficiaries are not getting their pension since a few months. The TRS government has increased the social pension amount and is disbursing every month. But it ignored the Abhaya Hastham pensioners.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in the recent Assembly sessions announced the release of Abhaya Hastham money to SHG women. He even said they were releasing the pending amount and released funds for the purpose.
But even after 20 days of releasing of funds, the beneficiaries did not get the pension amount.
As per the scheme, Rs 1.56 crore was released for the 3,479 women in Kamareddy district. The amount pending for several months has been deposited in the mandal offices.
Women are daily visiting IKP and mandal offices for Abhaya Hastham pension but in vain. Each beneficiary has to get Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,000. They alleged that the officials are neglecting the disbursement the pension amount.
There are about 2,442 beneficiaries in Nizamsagar, Pitlam, Madnoor, Bichkunda and Jukkal mandals. Earlier, pension was disbursed through biometric system. Now the panchayat secretaries have to distribute the pension directly.
