Nalgonda, February 4
Sri Parvathi Jadala Ramalingeswara Swamy temple Brahmotsavam in Cheruvugattu in Nalgonda took off on a grand note. But the devotees complained of lack of facilities.
According to the devotees, there are no drinking water, accommodation, changing rooms, toilets and other basic facilities. The temple tank is emanating foul smell barring the pilgrims to take a holy dip.
Not only that, the devotees complained that the laddu prasadam is being prepared in highly unhygienic conditions.
Pilgrims also complained that the officials are collecting high prices for several services in the temple. They are collecting exorbitant rates for vehicle parking, water pockets. The temple premises are filled with garbage and gutka sales are going on in the temple premises.
The temple gets Rs 8 crore to Rs 10 crore annually. The government also released funds for the temple development. There are allegations that political leaders and temple officials are usurping these funds and temple revenue and neglecting temple and devotees.
There is a staff of about 30 in the Cheruvugattu temple but most of them would be absent. The locals alleged that these staff have been working for a long time and none could say anything against them. They requested the government to provide basic facilities in the five-day festivities.
