Nizamabad, January 10

The High Court ban on cock fights in Telangana has depressed the punters in Nizamabad district. They are hesitating to participate in the fights, afraid of having to face court cases.

Earlier, cock fights were rampant in the district. This year they slowed down but it is known that cock fights are still quietly conducted in areas where settlers live. The betting people are going to these locations to take part in the fights.

Rooster fights are organized on a large scale in Varni, Chandoor, Rudroor, Nandipet, Andhra Nagar and other areas. In 2014, police stopped fights in Varni mandal. They arrested 10 persons and recovered two cocks and cash in large amounts.
